If you had the chance to arrive to Costa Rica and rightfully relax at the Airport Costa Rica B&B, we invite you to enjoy the west zone the following day. In this zone of Alajuela, you can find one of the most visited National Parks by tourists in Costa Rica. We invite you to get to know our region with this 1-day-package before you travel to any other destination in our country.
The west zone has a worldwide popular natural attraction, which is the Poás Volcano National Park. You will have the chance to get to know this place if the conditions allow you to do so. This park has one of the biggest craters in the world, which is in the mountain forest of the Central Volcanic Range. The tour includes a trail route that will allow you to learn about the zone’s fauna and flora.
After the visit to the Poás Volcano, you will learn about one of the most representative fruits of the zone in a nearby estate, which is strawberries. The tour guide will explain the process of the strawberries’ cultivation, care, and harvest. You will later be able to taste them through a delicious shake. Furthermore, you will experience ride in an oxcart while listening to some traditional legends of Costa Rica’s cultural manifestations.
Once the strawberry tour is done, you will enjoy a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch and interact with barnyard animals located nearby. Children and adults will be able to spend time with sheep and goats.
In the afternoon, you will experience a city tour from Grecia to Sarchí, which is known as the “Handicrafts Craddle”. There, you will visit the handicraft industry of Eloy Alfaro and El Jardín (former Chaverri industry), where the guide will explain everything related to this colorful art. Afterwards, you will receive a painting lesson with a popular craftsman of the zone who has been painting since he was 12 years old. William will explain the history behind carts and the tradition of painting them through unique styles. He will teach you how to paint the cartwheel, which will stay with you as a souvenir from visiting Costa Rica.
